Only about 20% of oil goes to produce fuel for vehicles the rest (80%) is used in pharmaceuticals, manufacturing ( rubber plastics paint etc) agriculture, lubricants etc. How do we end up with the dummest most incompetent in government? And that does not imply you or your fellow ON members Malcolm

It is past the point of no return. In fact the whole Western world is thanks to the UN.

Whilst that topic is an issue, this long term fundamental structure is what the discussion should be about, not short term stuff.

If the international energy regulator had recommended countries have 90 days of battery power on reserve, Bowen and Co would have been building batteries hand over fist. But because oil is a nasty fossil fuel, they chose to ignore recommendations.

I own a tiny number of shares in Amplitude Energy, formerly called Cooper energy.

A few years ago the annual report stated that the Victorian govt had a monitorium to stop them drilling to find new gas wells off the south coast in Bass Strait, both east and west of Melbourne.

They warned of future gas shortages.

Closing off old gas wells costs a fortune to meet the govt regulations and so does exploration drilling to find and tap into new deposits.

The Govt, both state and Federal are deliberately stopping the use of Australian oil and gass.

Interesting about buying EV’s And no mention of the small matter of how they get recharged🙄 oh silly me they’re only charged by wind and solar😵‍💫 no use of diesel or the like😂😂😂

Malcolm how’s your convicted rapist going with the election campaign? Seems to be allowing a whole lot of lies spin around on social media and whoever is Pauline’s advisor needs to pull her head in because she’s spinning so many lies.. she would be jailed for lies if she was in another country! 🤮

Actually, it’s time to make it a proper sovereign country for the first time. It’s time to stop being a post-colonial colonial outpost bumbling along behind the UK and the EU. Time to re-open the constitution and sort some things out and get rid of the foreign monarch as our head of state.

I noticed that as a special event, for 2 months only, the environmental requirements on petrol production from imported oil have been lowered, (shock horror,) to go back to allowing higher sulfur content in petrol. Ie we only have 2 refineries, but last year the morons in Canberra changed the approved specifications of petrol to stop 1 refinery from producing any fuel for use IN Australia because it can't meet the new standard. So we import oil, process and then export it to other countries, but we can't use it in Australia.

Why are we buying expensive oil from overseas when the labor govt says solar and wind are free?
